SO-2's or SO-3's?
#1
Its tyre time and the RE010's are at their end on my MY00's original 16 inch wheels, so I need new hoops... I know the conventioal wisdom says Bridgestone or Toyo, and for me Bridgestone wins on the number of recomendations, however Bridgestone have confused me by bringing out the SO-3 to sell alongside the SO-2 and now im not sure which to go for...
Anyone like to comment on why I should or shouldnt go for either the SO-2 or SO-3 over the other...?
Cheers, Jon.

AFAIK, SO2 are now very hard to get hold of, so SO3s might be your only choice if you want Bridgestones.
Otherwise, good reports on Toyo's or Goodyear Eagle F1s over the in the Tyre forum.

I have SO3's, waste of money, don't buy them. I assumed incorrectly they were an improved version of the SO2's. THEY ARE NOT. Get some SO2's or wait for the SO4's to come out (improved SO2's),
Next tyres I buy will be road legal cut slicks
Cheers,
Dan

I got 16" SO-3's for my Terzo bout 9 months ago.
Not great from new but give them a while to scrub in and they are a different tyre.
Not noisey but can be a bit squirmy when new. After 9 months a great tyre.
Also fantastic grip in the wet.
Ian.
ps But according to me I don't drive like a nutter either

I have just got S02's 215/40/17's and they're fantastic.... miles ahead of Pzero in my opinion.
But as stated earlier few sets left in the country.
Toyo's not that great but F1's meant to be pretty good.

I've just fitted SO3's and I'm very happy with them. Grip from new is very good, much better than the well worn RE010's fitted from new. They are a lot quieter, there is no crashing over pot holes and the tramlining has gone. Now the have covered 1000 miles or so grip is very good even in the wet, ice amnd snow. For me it's like a new car. I'm running them at the recommended pressures of 32psi front and 30psi rear (for a 5dr).
The scooby's weight has always counted against it on the twisty bits but at last I can press on into corners with a higher degree of confidence.
