Yokahama A520...feedback needed

SO-2s do not exist here in Cyprus (shame!), P-Zeros are too expensive, so I have to choose between Michelin Pilots and A-520s.
I'm going for 17".
Consider that raining days are not many.
Any replies apriciated..

Adonis,
Ah, Cyprus, best 2 and half year holiday I ever had !! (Lived in Akortiri for a while).
I would be careful of the A-520. Good soft tyre and grips well in the dry. However, I think it is well recognised that they perform poorly in the wet. I know that isn't really an issue in Cyprus, but come autumn with the first rains, be careful as I know the roads in Cyprus can be very bad after a summer of no rain and being covered in grape juice etc. :-)
If those are your only two choices, I would go for the Pilots, although I am guessing they are more expensive ?
Of course, you could pay for my flight over there and I'll bring you four SO-2s. :-)))
Cheers

I've done over 10k miles on 16" A520s, and I think they are excellent in the dry, but only average in the wet. I must admit though, they are better in the wet than the standard RE101s.

Adonis,
Had 15" A-520s on a Cavalier SRI-130 with uprated suspension. Dry road grip was good, wet..not so and wear rate high (must be my driving style). On my Corolla GTi-16 also with sorted suspemsion I had 16" Pilot SX-GT's. Point this car into a tight corner at high speed and round it went. Not bad in the wet either. I'd go for the Michelins, but again wear rate was only a little better! Perhaps AWD will ensure more even tyre wear and perhaps longer life.

I've had A-520's on my Scooby for a year now (albeit 15"s), in the dry very high levels of Grip, in the wet they are good, you can get the car to slide about a bit but in Total control. As for 6000 miles, depends how you drive in the dry I think, as mine are now 8K old with the same still to come by the looks off it. Then again the wife's driven 5K off that & the kids &n alsation do kill the enthusiasm through the bends.
