Mintex 1166 pads - road use!
I had a set of these fitted last week to my V plate impreza. Had Ferrodo 2500's before this set and on the the same EBC grooved disks. Have to say that so far they are better than the 2500's - have only just bedded in so time will tell but no bad braking when cold like many state on here. Pedal is also alot firmer and the spongyness has gone - (on same fluid) Had then done at CAS Motorsport and Steve told me that they would be OK, as did a search on here and many say that they are a big NO for road use - so was a bit unsure.
Well Steve was right they are ace - cheeper than Ferrods, dont squeal as bad as people say (maybe for the first few days) and are very impressive - cost me £125 fitted. well happy.
Sorry for posting 3 times - webpage went a bit nuts.

Brakes bedded in now - my god, I nearly went through the window. ABS has to cut in, never did with Ferrodos, as they used to fad. I cannot believe how good these pads are - just though I would post this as I know most people on here including me use Ferrods and think they are ace. Mintex 1166 are a different story - recommended
A big shock to be honest I really thought they would be crap on the road.

I use 1166 on the front and they are very good.
Sometimes on the first application in the morning at the bottom of my drive, they take a few seconds to gain efficiency. After that they can take abuse and pull you down from say 140 mph without any sign of overheat or fade(for test purposes only)
Great at Croft circuit where out braking Porsche, Ferarri, and Lambos is a speciality and Evos don't even rate.

Harvey, is this using standard sti 4 pots or an upgrade? I'm looking to beef up my braking but don't want to stretch to circa £1500 for a big brake kit.
Using standard sti 4 pots, tarox G88 discs and pads at the moment.

I've just had my 2nd set of Mintex 1166 pads fitted on to my MY00 Turbo 2000 along with a set of grooved discs at CAS also. Mintex 1166 pads before on standard discs were good but looking forward to testing this new setup with the grooved discs. Will post later when I've been out for a drive.
