Few things -

what brakes/pads are you using?

There is a bracket/mod to suport the master cylinder assembly as this can move under braking/pressure on the pedal.

Better brakelines, braded hoses.

Better disks/pads?

I've got Subaru 4 pots (MY00) EBC Grooved Spotted discs and Red Stuff pads and braided hoses. Just fitted the discs and pads and put Castrol dot 4 fully synthetic brake fluid in.

For feel DOT4 fluid is probably better (just boils more easily if you've got a bit of water in it), lines are what makes the biggest difference of just about anything.

The lines were done when I bought the car Sob so I can't really comment. I've driven one without but not to an extent where harsh braking was applied.

I'll have to see wether the fluid makes a differance as I'll be running the pads in for a few miles now.
