215/35/18 is the correct size for a classic not to rub, some type R's also run 225/35/18

As the man above says, also can depend on the offset of your wheels my wheels are 48 offset and I have 215 35 18 tyres on Haven't rubbed even when i've had the car full.

I've run 17's & 18's on my Impreza's and IMO it feels & handles far superior on 17's.

Danny - nice car mate. 18's look the dogs on a classic.

I've put a deposit down on a set of Oz P1-WRCs 18" - they come with 225/40/18 so I guess I may get some rub until I change my tyres for 215's .

General opinion on here (broad generalisation) over the years has been that classics do run better on 17s. Best compromise for B road and motorway.

However 18s do look the dogs. So for looks 18s definately
Personaly I only ever stick to 17s on classics. For performance 17s

Have heard that newages are better on 18s. But being a classic die hard - I am not so up on the new age cars.

I have a set of OZ PRODRIVE WRC'S on my classic.. offset is 53 which is the offset for newage but with the 215/35/18 tyres i have no problems with rubbing and as said they look the dogs B*****ks..... mind you it's kind of like having rubber bands wrapped around the wheels.
