Tyres all vary in how much noise they make, and it varies with the road surface and even the weather. Lower profile and wider tend to make more noise than tall squidgy ones.

Which ones are you worried about ?

Federal are a budget brand, are they the ss595s by any chance? They are a below average tyre TBH normally get them with an alloy wheel and tyre package as the budget performance tyres.

Even premiun tyres can be noisy. Got a set of R888s for track and they are very noisy compared to F1s. I'd have expected the minimal tread on these to be quiet but they howl and drone.

I have a set of 17" Michelin Pilot Sport on my GX. And since having the car lowered on Eibachs the road noise is pretty loud. Does anyone know if these tyres are particularly noisy? And can anyone recommend some really quiet tyres? I'm not too bothered about top performance considering it's a non-turbo.

Cheers,
MrGreedy

So, what is noise?
Look at the fact that you have more contact area on a surface, this causes friction, and with friction comes noise in reality there is no cure for the noise created by the tyres, except make them softer, which causes more wear, but you will still get the noise.
Want to hide that noise? shove a BIG exhaust on your car
