HOW MUCH TYRE LIFE DO YOU EXPECT
Just had a look at my front tyres & they will need replacing pretty soon.
Also looked the back ones and they are not far behind.
Normally the rears last a lot longer than the front as, I said, not a lot in it.
I used to have 16" Wheels and got 25-28 miles on a front set.
Now runninhg on 17's and it looks like 20,000 miles max.
Is that reasonable and, how much do you S/NETTERS normally wring from a set of tyres?
Thanks.
KInd regards

Goodyear F1 GSD3's, 235/40-18, now on 5mm tread after 15,000 miles. They start with 9mm IIRC. Rotated front to back every 5000, will need another rotate after the Alconbury day I think...

I expect between 8000 and 12000 miles.
My Scoob went through a set in 8000 miles. PS2's. They had a bit of tread left, but as it was winter, I changed them earlier than what I would have if it had been summer.
On a FWD car, I'd expect the same milage out of the fronts, and hardly any wear to the rears.
When I had my 106GTI, I was going through a set of front tyres every 8 to 10 thousand miles. Never changed the rears in the 3 years I owned it.
I don't wheel spin or handbrake turn etc. Wear is purely driving the car properly, and cornering rather quickly. Lots of back road driving.

Still got about 2 mm left on my Brig RE050 and done 23K on them so far - rotated them front to rear every 6k. Shoulders are looking a bit rounded though !!

I've got 17k out of my 18" Toyo T1S (which need replacing), all are wearing at the same rate, I assume this is down to a uk car with 50/50 split, I've never needed to swap them over.
I had 25K out of my last set of F1's and thats what I'm going back too, much more grip in the dry and great in the wet unlike the toyo's!!!!

24k out of rotated 18" F1s on 03STi.
Dill, Bought a separate set of 18s with R888 for track, first use at Elvington this Sunday. If I could get 7 track days and no road miles I'd be very pleased, don't expect them to last this well.
Cheers, Diccy.

Its very abrasive, I wouldn't expect them to last a day there.

on approx 12k on the REO70's and must be still at least 2k left of normal driving. no-one's more surprised than me, i thought these would be soft as ****e and last about 10k.
god knows how they grip so well and last as long as they do not complaining though
so with rotating and some hard road driving i would expect 15k and i wouldn't be heartbroken to get that

My T1S have done about 9K and will need changing very shortly, so say 10K if i'm lucky.
The F1's i had previously on 17's only last about 8k if i remember rightly.
Do you do a lot of Motorway miles Dan? Think i'll get the alignment done on my car when i fit a new set in a couple of weeks

I normally get about 12-18,000 miles dependant on time of year, seams when its dryer they wear down alot quicker, I think I need to move into a town and remove the country roads from the equation.
On Yokos
Tried Dunlop sports and they got ditched after about 300 mls. I didnt realise anyone had manufactured non stick tyres

Just changed the OE Bridgestone RE050s on my 04 WRX PPP as the shoulders were going bald and one had a slow puncture - 3 nails in it! This was after 30,000 miles. Quite a lot of MWay in that, but maybe 25% of pushing it on little country roads too; still quite a lot of tread in the middle! They were rotated once at 10K.
However having just changed to Goodyear GDS3 XL F1s the improvement in grip is incredible. How much is due to the type of tyre, how much to the wear, and how much to the tyre pressure mismatch I don't know.
