Lightweight wheels -anyone know the facts?
Hi Guys - lots of companies out there a selling so called light weight wheels.
But how much do they weigh? I would like to compare weights before I buy.
Unfortunately, I have AP 6 pots so need to run 17"s (I would prefer to run 16"s), so would like to get the lightest alloys with out going to extreme expense. Whats the recommended minimum width on 17"s?
Also - I read the R888 tyres weigh over 10KG each and are a bit above average weight. Looked for weights on their website - but found nothing.
Anyone know the weights of tyres? - I know the tyre choice will be on other factors - but would like to compare.
Thanks

Yup got it ok Simon. The boy in the van gave me the "WTF is that thing?" look.
Think the rims are 7.5 inches wide but would have to check. I know for a fact they're runnng 215/45/17's which aren't perfect but came with the wheels.
What I can tell you is that although they are light and incredibly strong they are heavyweights compared to 16's. I took a set off so I could run 330mm discs and the difference is amazing. They really were floaty light.
Don't know if the tyres make a big difference or it's the fact my new ones are the blue titanium versions.

I also use TE37's with 6 pots. 17x7 +48 on the front, 17x8 +44 rear.
Tyres are 205/40 R888's which are 8.8kg (and actually 212mm wide). 215/45 come in at 10.2kg.
If memory serves, they worked out at around 4.5kg lighter per corner when compared to the new age 17" setup (not including the AP's, which are also considerbly lighter than the Brembos)
