Brakes - opinions
OK, I'm in need of brakes.. disks/pads realistically on all 4 wheels, been in touch with Alyn who has helpfully pointed me in the direction of a number of items.
So doesn't look like I'll be doing all 4 at once if i buy those parts.. rears will have to wait till next month, I simply don't have the better part of a grand to spend on them in one month.
My current brakes are standard OE fare.. that are well worn, I don't do track days etc just the daily runner.. with the odd burst every now and then to cheer myself up
Anyway, I just stumbled upon these..
eBay.co.uk: SUBARU IMPREZA GROOVED BRAKE DISCS MINTEX XTREME PADS (item 200110194703 end time 25-May-07 19:23:54 BST)
Just wondered what people's opinions are of this kit.. seems a bit too reasonably priced to me for all 4 wheels but the guy has masses of positive feedback..
Alternatively there's this set which look a bit more realistic...
eBay.co.uk: FITS IMPREZA BRAKE DISCS AND PADS TAROX MINTEX XTREME (item 230098445876 end time 29-May-07 13:16:15 BST)
Not sure about the Mintex Extreme pads though, not seen many people talking about them.
But coupled with some braided lines and decent fluid, they should provide a bit of an improvement over the OE stuff?

Brakes are obvously very important, and getting a balanced set up for your particular car and driving style is not just a question of bolting on a set of 24-piston calipers. Sorry, don't mean to lecture
Alyn is a top bloke who knows Scoobs well. He sells just about everything, at good prices with excellent service. Just do what he says for a proper job
Richard.
PS No association with Alyn (Stockcar) or AS Performance, other than as a satisfied customer.
