Default Brembo rear caliper shims

Been struggling for last month to stop my 03STi rear Brembos squealing (Fronts are AP and no prob). I have recently changed from DS2500 (no squeal) to Pagid Blue all round. I have copperslipped everything chamfered edges on the pads and the nasty shims are the right way round and they still squeal. Yesterday I left the shims out as a last resort and this has given some improvement but they still squeak a bit. Any ideas welcome. They'll get some serious welly at Elvington on 1st July and I'm hoping this will bed them in a bit better.

What is noticeable is that the brakes are noticeably less grabby and pedal feel is nicer. I reckon these shims tend to make the pistons lean very slightly in the bores and cause unnecessary stiction. Anyone else noticed this, I see some posts on here where people are looking for these shims as theirs are missing so other people must have left theirs out as well.
