Default URGENT - Mich PS2 vs. RE070

Have been offered both for the same price (£115ish fitted) but need to let them know asap or they might go.

Will I find the Bridgestones too hard riding (RE 040's I'm on at the moment are OK) and will the Mich Pilot Sport 2's be ok on trackdays? They are predominantly to be used on the road.

Any help here will be of use.

RE070's have very stiff side walls a you can feel all the bumps in the road, it completely transforms the feel of the car. I personally like it as it gives you confidence. They can be a problem in standing water but you adapt to the driving conditions

Spen555

Stiffer than 040's, which I think are pretty stiff?

I've had both,RE040's on my RX-8 and the RE070's on my current STI.

Hard to give a comparison as on different cars but i prefer the ride, grip and look of the RE070's to be honest.

Not much help to you regarding the Michelin's but haven't had them recently.

Had them years ago on my Rover turbo and didn't rate them then, they have probably got better since though.

Hope that helps you a bit.

that's a good price for the REO70's! think my dealer wanted about £140 each.

i use both tyres on my car as i don't like the REO70's in the winter. not that they're bad in the wet, just a bit iffy in cold, damp conditions.

you won't beat the grip of the REO70's in the dry, they are superb. trade off is a very hard ride, if the roads around your way are a bit poor condition you'll be picking up a few new rattles but if you've got nice new, smooth tarmac you'll bloody love them

the PS2 is a great all round tyre, good grip in all conditions. brilliant in the wet.

hard to recomend which one is best for you to be honest mate, personally if the REO70's didn't have such massive grip in the dry they would be on ebay now, as the ride and performance of the PS2 is hard to beat.

I've had PS1's on mine, found them to 'go off' on trackdays and get very slippery, probably due to overheating. Great road tyre though, very good in the wet and fairly hard wearing.

I'm going with the RE070's - looking forward to the next track outing, and hoping that they aren't unbearable on the road. I'll let you know what I think.

Thanks for your help fellas

Never tried Pilot sports but aren't they usually a lot more expensive than that? Seems a very good price. Meant to be an excellent tyre. I stuck with Goodyears last time as I had a quote in excess of £600 for four 18" PS2's!

I have got both the REO70's on 17" rims and Michelin PS2's on 18" rims, the bridgestones are alot louder and i dont find them very good until you get them warm, the ps2's upto now seem alot better all round tyre for the road
