Although my P Zeros dont need replacing right now, it wont be much longer before they do.
I get the impression from reading the threads on here that they aren't the first choice of many of you out there. Can I do better with another model?....... what are the pros/cons of the other manufacturers?....Anyone know of a 17" tyre that stands out from the rest?

Toyo T1-S, Goodyear F1, Bridgestone SO-2 (if you can get them).

Just swapped from P-Zero's to Goodyear F1's...now 800 miles later..

P-Zero's were good in the dry, but seemed to break away in the wet, even with substancial tread left. The Goodyear F1's seem better in the wet letting go in a gradual way......

Pricing for the F1's was also a bargain (£320 fully fitted on 17"'s)

Thumbs up

Agree
F1's Toyos or SO2/3s are all good, not heard to many good reports on P zeros.

I think as more people use the S-03 PP, and get into the grippy rubber before going ballistic because they are pretty avg. when brand spankers, you are going to hear more good things about them than bad.

Take a squiz at the S-03 thread...a few people who know a bit about it (not me) seem to have re-assesed or driven them to the point where they work.

I had some time on P-zeros and was underwhelmed by their wet perf, but dry was pretty good.

Cheers.

Have tried them all and S0-2's are the ones to have.

Wet performance is a mile ahead of anything else, when bedded in.
Dry performance is on par with most tyres.
The S0-3's are nowhere as good as the 2's.

Search out some S0-2's if you can. Second choice would be Toyos.

Question

JC
But have you actually DRIVEN any distance on S03's.......?

I think Pete Croney knows what he is talking about - I certainly respect his judgement on tyres, and not just because he is a mate - see his comments on the long S03 thread.

Interestingly, Pete and I were at Brands last month and it was absolutely tipping down with rain - our cars are identical mechanically, and Pete is a MUCH better track driver than me. He was behind me, Toyo shod, and couldn't get past me for several laps - I was on S03's. Eventually I pulled over and let him past. This is NOT a criticism of Pete's driving - see above comment - but merely the confirmation of how good the S03 actually is.

I have driven both our MY00's on 17" S02's, then both our MY00's on 18's - Carolyn's on P zero rossos, now changed to Toyo T1-s's, and mine on S03's.

The S03 is probably the best all round tyre, then S02, then Toyo.

Whatever you say, the S02 is now an obsolete tyre - period.
