STI5 - Will this specific wheel/tyre combo fit correctly?
Hi folks. It is a rare thing for me to not figure out something for myself but after hours of looking at wheels, googling myself to death and searching here I am still not sure about the following wheel/tyre combo on my STI5:
Kato Kochi 7x17",5x100 et42, Avon ZZ3 215/40/ZR17 tyres.
Basicaly fluffy is in for her annual service/MOT and I have 2 buckled wheels to replace. I don't want to have them repaired, I just want to get new wheels and hope to order some asap.
If someone on here that really knows their stuff with wheel sizes on the classic could answer, I would really appreciate it. If there is no hope of these fitting then if you could say what offsetr range to really look for (sticking with a 17", 7 or 7.5? rim), that too would be most useful.
Thanks in advance,
Nick .

Thanks. Man, there seems to be no pattern. Why on earth do the online places say that ET35-52 will fit for example? Any other input regarding ET42 appreciated. I did a search on here and it appears that some others are running ET42.

Sometimes wheels have a smaller offset to clear Brembo calipers or allow for fitment of the spoke design.
Remember some earlier wheels have the right offset but the spoke design didn't clear the calipers, eg Speedline ST's didn't clear 4 pots so they produced the ST2

The ET42 really sounds too tight so I have gone off in a different direction and am seriously considering getting the Wolfrace Urban Racer Gold 18's with 215/35 ZZ3's on. These are an ET50 offset on an 18 rim. Ice Maiden runs these so I have spammed her a pm regarding how well she finds they fit, clearances etc and I have cheekily 'borrowed' her picture to put by mine and see what you guys think. Not sure how important it is but the eibachs are being removed this week and the originally STI springs being put back on, so I will gain more overall height in the arches. I like the fact that they not 'screaming in your face' gold:
Ice Maiden's running the Urban Racers:
And here is fluffy:
I can't really do any better than that as I don't know the front end of photoshop from the backend! .
Thoughts?
Thanks .
