When I went to costco they torque their wheels up to 88 lb's?

I take it this is too much then?

Came from the Michelin guide..

65lbsft sounds too little to me.

Audi recomend 116NM (roughly 90lbsft), also depending on wheel size.

Manual says 78~98nm which is 58~72lbft, so 65lbft is slap bang in the middle.

Where?

I've got a Spec D and couldn't find torque settings in the handbook - I used 65-70lb/ft from past experience thinking perhaps it was on the low side.

Given it a good going over today including using Jeffs Werkstatt Prime Strong followed by Poorboys Sealant from Polished Bliss on the wheels and calipers. It took absolutely ages so, hopefully, will last a day or two before they turn black again.
