Type R or Newage WRX rear caliper ??
Hi
Can anyone tell me if the 2 pot rear caliper on a Type R is the same as the 2 pots fitted to the rear of the Newage WRX's ??
I know the Type R disc has the bigger 190mm handbrake drum compaired to the normal size 170mm drum , was wondering if i can use the Type R calipers without having to use brackets and fit the newage disc on a MY2000 classic ???
cheers for any advice

Calipers are the same, as mentioned the rear drum brake was different.
You'll still need the brackets to fit the 2 pot rears.

There is a place in America selling backplates to allow the use of 2-pots without any brackets and still use the 170mm handbrake. All genuine Subaru stuff. I'll see if I can find them again if anyone is interested.
I sometimes wonder if it'd be possible to fit the Newage WRX backplates to a classic, giving us the 170mm handbrake and 290mm disc.

Yes as far as I am aware the Newage back plates will fit , but its quite a bit of work to fit them as you have to remove the drive flange from the drive shaft , which most people won't have the tools to do , and then the cost of back plates from the dealers , as I cant imagine the breakers stripping an axle down just to sell you the backplates.
Its a much quicker/cheaper job by fitting a bracket kit.
