Uneven frontpad wear
Hi guys,
I noticed today that the front pads wear is uneven. The front right pad is almost half way where on the other hand the left front pad is almost new. Another indication to that was the brake dust on the front right wheel compared to the left one.
I am currently running subaru 4-pots and ferodo pads.
Can you tell me what might be causing that?
I will take the car for MOT next month and it would be nice to know if I can do something to improve breaking.
Thank you.

Sorry to drag this old post back up. Im experiencing the same problem where my front left pads are down to the metal nearly and the front right pads still have some beef left. There is considerably more brake dust build up on the left wheel than the right. The disc also seems hotter, do you reckon my caliper is slightly seized. If so what action should I take to un stick it - garage visit or is it fair game for your average bear?
the left inner disc has a big ridge also, do I need to change the discs or will the new pads take the shape of the disc?

It maybe as simple as the pads have a build up of dust and are jamming in the calipoers , you will have to take the pads out and see how easy they are to move around in place , if they are tight this could be your problem , if they seem ok , get a screwdriver and see if you can push each piston in one at a time , they should move fairly easy , if not then it's the calipers ,
If it is the calipers you may get away with cleaning the pistons up , and just fitting new seals , if the pistons are pitted at all then they need replacing. Also check the bores inside the calipers for rust build up , this needs to be free of any rust to work correctly
The calipers have to be stripped to check them properly

Excellent! thanks for the input. Ive been searching for a couple of hours now and another suggestion was the pins that the pads slide on have become rusty thus dont allow the pads to slide back from the disk - im hoping its that rather than the pots themselves as it makes the job much easier!
