help with brakes
Right, I'm really fed up of people taking money and not doing the work.
I've had a poor brake pedal for a long time and I've been to a 'specialist' and to a main dealer and they've both taken my money and acheived nothing.
The problem is that I have a long pedal and poor feel. I can depress the pedal all the way to the floor and I only just stop.
This occurred last year after a late run one night. My pads were worn out and the disks had a lip and heat/stress fractures. So I changed the pads to Green stuff, no difference. Then I changed to Black Diamond disks and pads, new DOT 4 fluid, changed the master cylinder, bead them, re-bled them..........
A trip to API revealed that one side seemed to be doing more work than the other (one side hotter than the other), so maybe seized pistons. I had all four calipers rebuilt with a seal kit from Subaru. Still the same.
So, I've now visited a specialist who says that the brakes are okay , bit to be fair it was a very wet day. Charged me for 30 mins, including a pressure test to find that pressures equal at the calipers.
Next, to Subaru, charged an hours labour and still no idea of what's wrong. They asked if they are the correct calipers for the car (err I hope so they came with it and were okay at first). Subaru were going to ring IM to see if they had any suggestions and then let me know.
I sit and wait
Any ideas guys?

I certainly don't recall any work other than diagnosis. If there is something adrift with our workmanshipo or whatever I would be happy to know and the chance to correct anything.
Memory says, we diagnosed, but you went away to do the job at home. Is that correct ?

I don't believe that we did any work for you that you are unhappy with, did we ?

David, don't worry, it wasn't you. You've always given first rate service - you know that
I had it at a local specialist and they gave the impression that the brakes are acceptable. Then Subaru who agree that there is a problem but can't find it!
API gave a free 'opinion' - that there was more heat generated on one side than the other - that's why I had the calipers overhauled........... but there's still a problem (mine - not your's David)
Still, any other suggestions welcome

it may be worth checking that the adjuster on the pedal in the drivers footwell has not been set wrong, this was done on mine, once it was adjusted correctly hey presto short pedal movement, still not as firm as the wifes 306 pug but the car stops a lot faster.
