Tyre legality question -JDM's
Could anyone advise on a legality basis only, not performance
If a jap import (of any make) is left with the 112mph limiter in place what is the lowest legal speed rated tyres they can be run with is. Given that even if the car is capable of speeds greater than that the limiter stops it going past 112mph.

You may find insurance is void if Tyres are not the same rating as the OEM ones.
So if ZR are stated in the manual then stick to ZR spped rating and not HR or VR. Also if its the Load then stick to 89 W at least.
Why spend 000's on your car and then save £10 per corner to save a bit of cash! i dont really understand, tyres are the only thing between you are the road and i wouldnt save cash on them
But if you want to then go for a cheapo remolds for £35 per corner..

If a JDM car is taken for an SVA test when first imported and it's stated on the documentation that 112mph is the maximum speed, they will only check to make sure the tyres are rated to at least 112mph and are EU approved (have 'e' or 'E') mark. So legally you would be covered IMHO. However if the car is capable of > 112 mph and you had an accident and your tyres were not of a sufficient speed & load rating, I expect the insurance company would be looking for reasons not to pay out.
