EBC redstuff + turbogroove discs for £200
#1
Hi,
I can get EBC stuff through work at a discount - It's going to costs me £200 for Redstuff pads and a pair turbo groove discs - Is this a good deal? (It's a MY00 turbo with std 4 pots by the way).
Would I be better going for Greenstuff pads? I know they aren't recomended by EBC but I don't plan on going on track and I don't drive that hard
Thanks
Richard.

I believe i paid £ 175.00 for pads and disks from Tyres Northampton.
God, i do not wish to sound like an advert for them honest, absolutely no connection with then - they are one of the few companies i trust with my baby. Good customer service and they take care with your pride and joy.
That was for T/Grooves and Greenstuff, incl fitting, could have done it meself but they offered.
I thought that redsuff where for track days, need to get them V.hot before they give thier best.
I have found Greenstuff more than adequate for (fast) road use.

Blimey that's cheap!! Has your's got Subaru 4pots on? I'm sure I've seen just the discs advertised for more than that!
I'm gonna give them a call - thanks!

Recently phoned Tyres Northampton myself. For the same discs and pads as Pauls got (EBC Turbogroove and Greens), and also braided hoses and DOT 5.1 fluid its 325 + VAT fully fitted. I shall be making a trip up there shortly

Just rung Tyres Northampton -they'll do turbogroove discs + greenstuff pads fitted for £275 inc VAT - you must have got them as deal of the month Paul! They also recomended greenstuff rather than red unless you drive like a looney!!

Sorry chaps, had it done over a year ago and going from (a cr@p) memory.
Did not mean to mislead!
Paul
BTW - I believe the Turbogrooves are the grooved & 'dimpled' disks, that is what i had, i know EBC do a couple of different types of disks.
editied 'cause i cannot spell 'grooved' for toffee

Hi,
Just my opinion here, but I'd go for Redstuff front, green on the back. Reds don't need a lot of warming up (contrary to what people say). They just don't perform to their best until there is some heat in them, but that doesn't mean they are cr@p cold, they aren't.
Once you get them nice and hot, they are awesome. Good for fast road but I cooked mine on a trackday, so for a serious track person I reckon Yellowstuff or better are the thing. For moderate track use though, redstuff are fine.
You'll notice the biggest difference fitting braided hoses though.
One thing I've noticed, Reds give less dust, my backs are now always dirtier than the fronts. But even the greens don't give much.
Hope this helps

Another thumbs up for Tyres Northampton.
I got the EBC green stuff pads and Turbo grooved (and dimpled) discs a couple of weeks ago.
Reading Pauls first post got me worried...£175! thought I'd been done!
I can confirm that they are £275 fitted. Not usre if that included VAT as I had to have a few other things done..Anti-roll bar links etc.
They make a humming sound when braking heavily. Suppose thats the grooves? Never had grooved discs so I'm guessing

Having used EBC Greens, Reds and Yellows it is my opinion that the best pad for road use ONLY is Green, no question.
Reds aren't all that on the road and poo on track, only lasting one event if you're lucky.
Yellows are a better all-rounder and worked well on the road even when cold. Not bad on track but there are better pads for the money. Just need to try the new Blues now.
Bear in mind that I have AP's so results may be different than standard 4-pots.
