Hello All,

I'm after as much information as possible regarding the old issue of the splitting inner side walls on the Pirelli Asimmetrico tyres as fitted to the original P1 wheels.

Was the issue only found on the 18" tyres or did any of you have problems with the 17" ones?

I know its an old issue but would appreciate any feedback you all have.

From personal experience it's just pirelli(Asimmetrico) low profile tyres as a whole,not just on scooby's,i've seen it happen on jaguars as well,it doesn't happen all the time and its not just pirelli's that do it,but i've seen it more often on a Assimetrico than any other tyre,you also get the wire coming out the tyre on the shoulder sometimes before its worn out.

Thanks for the reply mark6, were any of the Asimmetrico's 17" ones.

on the jaguars i think the size was 225/45-17,it mainly happens to 45/40 profile tyres.

just done a search for you,it seems it was mainly the 18" on the p1 splitting,but like i say it happens on other sizes as well.

Thanks again, I did a search and went through all the threads, and as you say there is mention of the 18"s but also mention of issues on P1 Pirelli tyres where no size was stated so assuming the 17's were amongst them.

Hopefully other members will be along soon to advise if their 17's had issues. Prodrive are telling me that not one 17" Asimmetrico has ever had the problem with splitting inner tyre walls in the 12years they have been using them.
