i have 245/35 18s on my 02 wrx. this is the biggest you can get on an 8" rim.
235/40s would have a 1.7% bigger radius, but should be ok

They will catch on bump with a small amount of lock on.

235/40 will fit, but you may need some arch rolling just to make sure that on 'bump' it wont catch... full lock is another story (spacers?)

Dunno if this is still relevant to anyone now but I'm running 235/35/19s on OZ superleggeras on MY04 STI.

Its also on eibachs and hasn't rubbed so far (1000 miles or so)

Maybe thats of some use to you all

why are people saying that 245s are the max you can put on an 8.5" rim? given that i have had 235s on a 7.5" this year with no issue on track.

I would have thought you could get 265s on there.

They would rub then though for sure so youd need some arch work.
