Default question for tyre bofins

Guys,
What is the biggest tyre I can fit to my 17inch Prodrive speedlines (The OE type chronos ones ) on my 97 classic wagon. It has 215/40's but there seems to be loads of room under the arches for a wider tyre .

That is the size I had on my classic UK turbo saloon fitted with Prodrive 17 wheel option (same as yours I think for offset.

Some have fitted 225, but that extra 10mm will/could play havoc.

Personally, I would stay with 205, but and good tyre shop would mount a 225 on there and let you fit to the car to check clearances.
However, you may find that the clearances are too tight when the suspension is compressed, ie
Hump back bridge with 4 up taken too fast...
