Default 235/40/17

Anybody else got these on their cars?

i have a 99 GC8 chassis. Had 215/45/17 tires on, and now changed to a wider size as above 235/40/17. The rolling diameter is marginally smaller.

But i find that the handling characteristic has changed a little bit. Think i'm picking up tramlining. Come out of a few corners and feels like the car is not holding a straight line?

anybody else have any experiences with 235 tires??

You really should be running 205/45/17's or 215/40/17's on classics.

235 is too wide and not surprised that you're tramlining.

205/45 are not wide enough for the wheel if it's a 7J rim, 215/40 is the closest size to std without any rubbing or speedo issues, and is the correct width for a 7J wheel, check the load rating on the tyres though, I've had this conversation with my insurance company and they said they would not pay if the car was fitted with a lower load rated tyre than specified by the manufacturer, ie a Goodyear Eagle F1 (rating of 83 - should be 87 min).
