Default Porsche brakes

Has anyone tried the Porsche brake kits that Powerstation are now selling for all Impreza's? I wondered how these cwould compare to the AP Racing kits as i think these are possibly a Brembo caliper?

top end brake kits probably have nothing on each other, for the dedicated track driver you might notice a difference, but you average bloke going to the shops probably wont?

Look like a great setup and would be fantastic on the road however i would imagine the APs are better on track.

Ive been in many Porsche's and the brakes are absolutely breathtaking however i wonder if they offer the same performance on a scoob??

I think its my browser, but I can't see a price for these brakes on Litcho site. Can anyone enlighten me? Are these Porche's own brakes or just rebranded AP's like on Aston Martins?

Etchasketch..not far off Presumably that is front prices only, still not too bad fully fitted. They look identical to AP six pots though and the price is pretty much the same.

If you look closely at the pics on the powerstation site for their porsche brakes you can see that the bolt and fitting kit is AP, i think i'd rather pay for the AP name on my Scooby rather than have porsche.

Both are obviously good kits but which offers cheaper discs and pads as this will ultimately determine VFM.

My understading was that these calipers are longer in length than the Ap's and therefore cover more of the disc which increases braking.

Powerstation used to use the Ap 6 pots and i've seen the Tarox 12pots on the T25, but if the others were better why would they be using this set up??

Because thay can buy the Porsche calipers in cheaper? Shouldn't think they get a particularly good mark-up on selling on AP kits. A cynic? Me?

They do look the biz though.

The disc is an AP disc along with the bolts. The hub is custom made.

They certainly do. They look like the calipers from a Cayenne which are approx 40mm longer and 20mm taller then AP 6 pot pads.

I can't comment on the Powerstation kit, but I did have a Porsche kit from Movit fitted to my WRX Wagon. Kit comprised of 4-pot calipers and pads from Porsche GT3 and 996 Turbo discs.

Very simple to fit, though I did need to fit spacers (15mm per front wheel I think) to clear the 17" wheels (standard 2001 WRX wheels), though I could possibly have avoided that with different wheels, be it 17" in a different offset, or maybe 18", but I'd just purchased the wheels so getting a new set was out of the question.

There's a chap who posts on 22B.com as Richard.D (pretty sure that's him) whose run a similar kit to mine for quite some time and really rates it too, and he's actually used it in anger whereas I didn't

Regardless, I'd say it's a very good kit indeed and certainly comparable to an AP 6-pot kit. I'd go for it over AP's as it's just a little different, hence why I went for the movit kit over the AP's.

Doesn't seem that hard, providing you can prove the car is for work use. I only had to say that I took the scoob to work (Construction site) everyday.

We had a tiler on site turn up everyday in a boxster s, So it's Not unheard of.

Sure, a car for company use is one thing, but then to convince him you had to have porsche brakes fitted? But hey, if you can do it more power to you!

the receipt will be marked up as Subaru brake conversion or something??

pretty much everything for my car ends up with my accountant TBH

my mate had a full blitz exhaust on his evo and the accountant sorted that out. no idea how they do it, that's why we pay them so much money i suppose

Anybody know the weight of these kits..? I'm in need of some uprated stoppers but I'm aware of the unsprung weight penalty over OEM 4pots. Or is it the case that the alloy caliper and bell balance things out. Suppose it depends on the disc size at the end of the day..?

Although this Porky kit looks great am I the only one who would feel slightly uncomfortable having Porsche written on my Subaru..? A bit like putting GTI/Turbo stickers on a 1.1L..?

you can always remove the stickers and replace with either brembo or subaru ones off of ebay!!!

I'm not sure of the weight but I couldn't believe how heavy the standard 4 pots were when compared to the STI Gold brembo's I changed too.

But similarly I couldn't believe the weight of the gold brembos when I took them off to put the AP 6 pots on.

movit are the bigest brakes i've eveer seen, well on the audi at the ring lol, must have been 18 inch diameter disks and huge 6 pots on the front, huge 4 pots on the rear with a separate caliper for the hand brake
