Question What brake disc diameter??? - MY93 WRX Jap import (240PS)

Hi

Does anyone know for sure what diameter the front brake discs are on my MY93 240PS WRX Jap import - GC8A48D? I've been told that it could be either 277mm or 295mm .

The car is fitted with the standard Jap-spec anthracite 15" 5-spoke alloys - so would this mean that the discs are, in fact, 277mm ...

Thank you

John

It will be the 277mm discs , the 295mm ones were fitted with the four pots , you can tell the 4 pots as they have the word SUBARU on the outside on them

Best change them for the later model SUBARU embossed calipers cos the 2 pots are **** (i've just change mine on my 93 wrx and its nice that the car stops when i want it to, have to change to 16" wheels though)

Thanks fellow Scoobers...

I agree - the brakes leave a lot to be desired, given the outrageous performance on offer. Mind, it doesn't help that my brakes judder like a b*****d from about 70mph and above, giving me a case of the serious wobbles through the steering-wheel! I take it that this would be a classic case of warped discs? Can anyone recommend a suitable upgrade - both discs and pads?...

You,ve got a choice of ferodo, EBC, Black Diamond or mintex(i used these on my 2 pots good but squeal really badly).
You could just stick with standard discs with uprated pads (the performance is better but not the greatest) but it would be worth looking at getting 4 pots eventually (£200 approx +discs and pads) although you will have to get 16" wheels.

I'll start off with discs (as I think they're warped) and pads. Then as funds allow, get four-pots (I'm gonna fit 17" alloys anyway).

Do Mintex still do that psuedo race-pad for the road, 1155, for the Impreza?...

Yep although the cold performance isn't good (allegedly) but the 1144s are good
