Default Anyone comment on Michelin Pilots?

I've used Eagle F1s for years and I'm very happy with them. But sometime soon I'm going to replace all four and was wondering what Michelin Pilot Sport or Pilot Exalto are like in the wet? I'm pretty sure they stick like **** to a blanket in the dry, that's not really the issue. They'd be a 205/50/16 or a 45 profile maybe. Also how do they wear, evenly? Long lasting or not?

I know I should stick to the Eagles, but I want to see what the Pilots are like. If they're no good, I'll go back to Goodyear.

Default exaltos

I had pilot exaltos on my legacy turbo (215/45/17) and they were good in the wet and dry, I really liked them and they lasted well. Will be fitting them to my bugeye when the current continental sportcontacts wear out, not very impressed by them.

I have Michelin PS2s at the moment (Newage 225/40/18) and they are the ebxt tyres i've had on the 3 scoobs i've owned. Can't comment on wear yet as they are too new but they don't seem to be wearing any worse than previous tyres.

Definately worth a try if you can stomach the extra cost.

Tony.

Yeah it's the cost that I'm concerned with. I can get Eagles at £75 a corner at the moment and Michelins are £100 or over.

Had them on a RS4, fairly progressive in the wet and dry, excellent wear, worth the extra IMHO

Although my Scoob is now gone

PS2's are great tyres on the Scoob, I had both the 225/17/45 and 225/18/40's on the car over 2 years and they were a great balance between wet and dry performance. In the wet these tyres are superb, loads of grip and a really progressive breakaway near the limit and very easy to recover from a slide. On a dry road RE070's offer more grip for a significant disadvantage in the wet imho!! Road wear is excellent, well over 10K per set on 330bhp STi.

The 17's worked best on track in the wet where they really really dig in for maximum traction as long asthe suspension set up is fairly supple - a really hard set up makes them slithery. When dry on track they get very hot very quickly (never a problem on the road), get 'snotty' and loose after 10 minutes in really hot weather they feel like the tread is moving on the tyre as you corner - like I say only a problem on track so depends on your intended use.

For me the best balance between performance and durability in my time as a Scoob owner.

I replaced the PZero Neros on my WR1 with Michelin PS2s (225/40x18). The PS2s are good in both wet & dry, at least equalling the Pirellis on A roads & B roads, but with better wet performance. The PS2s also have excellent wet & dry breaking performance. The PS2s however seem to have one problem area, which is that they feel "light" on *very* fast sweeping (motorway) bends.
