Tread depth of new tyres

I have never seen a new tyre (or an old one 
) with 10mm on! What tyres are these? I know Toyo's come with 8mm when new. I would have said (IMHO) that 7-8mm would be an average.

Does anyone know how much tread (in mm) there is in a new 205/45/17 tyre etc. I know that it may differ for different manufacturers, so figures along with manufacturer of tyre would be handy
