Default Brake Feel - Initial Bite ?

What's the 'standard' favoured first upgrade on Sti Brakes (02 UK Model, Brembos) ?

The front disks are new and the brakes do ultimately work well, however, I'd like a better feel to them. The pedal is good and high, and doesn't sink too much under pressure, so I'm not sure that braided lines will add much - though I'll probably fit them soon enough anyhow.

I'm assuming, as the car is standard, that the current pads are stock. What do people run as an improved road pad ? I'd like something with a little more initial bite....

When I had my classic I ran Godspeed 335mm disks on Subaru 4 pots, initially with DS2500s. I later swapped these for Red-Stuffs, which I felt where better in this area - and provided plenty enough stopping power for my 'fast-road' needs.

Anyone with any experience of different pads on the Brembos ?

Thanks,

Mark

I've used DS2500 with the Brembos and was well happy with the results (fitted to front and back). Nice feel and worked from cold. I thought the Brembo pads were noisy and a little inconsistent.

I've used a few sets of DS2500's (Front and Rear) over the last few years, aswell as the OEM pads. DS2500's have always worked well for me, on a Classic or Sti.

Cheers, Martin.

Thanks Gents -

I ran DS2500s with my classic on 2 types of disk.

The only problem I ever had with DS2500s was with the Godspeeds - I had problems with deposit build up, as I don't think I was getting the pads warm enough, often enough.

I used them with the TSL disks I had before (also with the 4 pots) without any issue -

Sounds like I ought to give them another go with this newage.....

If you want a lot of bite from cold and no deposit you could try Carbone Lorraine.

Too much initial bite for my liking - but its a matter of taste.
