18" on bugeye ?
Probably has been asked before, but after a lot of searching I still can get all the answers I'm looking for.
I have a MY02 bugeye with PPP, and thinking on getting some nice gold 18" wheels. I quite like the looks of the OZ Racing Superleggera's.
What I'd like to know is how will the handling be influenced ? Is the ride quality much harsher ? How will the car feel ?(stability, cornering) I'm a bit worried about the "wondering", I woudn't like to increase that, but maybe that is only with the Potenza's. Also what tyres and size should I use ? Will PS2 at 225/40 do it ?
Also will the 18" really matter for the PPP ?
As this is not exactly a cheap investment, only for the looks I'm not going to do it, but if there is real benefit, well soon is my birthday
I'd appreciate any comments, suggestion, etc.
Cheers,
B.

I have gold OZ WRC alloys on my 04 blobeye with 225/40/18 tyres, I recently put a spare set of OZ WRC wheels with 215/35/18 tyres on as the other ones are being refurbed and the 215/35 look really skinny and go inside the arches, So make sure you get the 225/40/18 on the newage car.

If you are just spending the money for performance gain, IMO don't bother, I've recently gone to 18's, haven't noticed much diff really in ride or handling, but it looks sooooo much better go with 225/40/18's, PS2's will be spot on, I've a set to be fitted next week..

I have Gold 18" PWRC1 wheels and Mich PS2 tyres on a 53plate WRX. Big improvement in how the car looks and performs. IMHO the 18's have given me even more out of the PPP in lower gears, and the PS2's have given me back the comfort of the original springs before I changed to PD springs. 225/40/18 Mich PS2's fantastic tyres feels more planted all round for this wheel mod.

Depending on the weight of your existing alloys you may get an improvement in handling due to better suspension control as OZ Superlegerra are very light, being made using flow forming. Try holding an empty bucket up with an outstretched arm and lifting it up and down in controlled sweeps. Do the same with the bucket filled with water and you will see what effect lighter wheels on the suspension could have. Add to this the reduced profile of the tyre wall which will give better stability when cornering as they will roll less. There may even be an almost imperceptable performance increase as the rotational mass will be slightly reduced. Obviously the ride will suffer a little, but you can't have everything.
