Question Load rating

About to buy some tyres for my new wheels..

215/40/17.. but i feel the load rating 83 makes the tyre wall feel a bit soft and squirmy.
Have also noticed that the 45 profile tyre has an XL rating of 91. I know the 40 profile is a closer match to the size of my 16's but was just wondering what you guys recon..

40 profile or 45 ???????? or can i get a 40 profile tyre with a higher load rating....
ps; was looking at Eagle F1's for my Classic.

Cheers

Think you will find that a load rating of 83 is too low for Impreza's and they should be 91
Try doing a search about F1's splitting

My opinion only but I suggest you avoid F1s with a load rating of less than 87 as this is the lowest rating I've seen listed by Subaru or tyre makers as recommended for an Impreza Turbo of any vintage.
I had splitting problems on 83 rated F1s a few years back on a classic but none on 91XLs, of which I've had many sets since.
As said there are many threads on the subject from the past and I couldn't see any splitting problems in higher ratings.
It could have been a bad batch but if it's not a recommended fitment then there's not going to be much you can do about it if it happens, and the splits weren't something you'd want to happen anyway.
I also think that the F1 XLs are a little stiffer - but it's hard to tell after so many pairs of them, and I wasn't aware of the different ratings until more recently anyway so can't be certain of all the many sets of F1s I've had over the years.
The manufacturer's websites list all size/ratings available.
