Question Recommendations for front discs and pads

My brother wants some new discs and pads for his MY00 turbo. He has EBC Turbo Grooved and Red Stuff on the rear.

Should he just go for the front set up too or can anyone recommend any alternatives.

Can he fit 305mm discs with standard 4 pots?

No, well, not using godspeed kit, not sure if anyone else makes a kit, pretty sure the caliper doesn't get moved enough to make a bracket that would fit....

If it's just road use then stick with the OEM discs and just run different pads ,EBC Reds or Ferodo DS2500, and combine with better fluid, something like Motuls RBF600 (check Scoobyshop for prices)

I think he wants better than oe brakes. Dont ask why, he just does!!!!!!

Ive just read the Godspeed 330mm discs maintain the original calipers and just space them out. Does anone know how much they cost?

I have no experience of Godspeed so cannot comment but I can't see how they would give any improvement in braking over stock. Also think about the increase in unsprung weight with a large disc and additional bracket and how this effects the cars handling.

If ofcourse it's for looks and pub talk then go ahead

Its around £600 for the Godspeed kit.

Alyn(stockcar) at http://www.asperformance.com/ can sort you out 8 groove discs(294mm) and either Pagid or Ferodo pads for much less then £330, enough to buy braided lines as well

He has MY03 STi alloys so that shouldnt be a problem! He'll probably go with the EBC though as they seem to be about £100 cheaper than anything else ive come across!

Godspeed also do standard sized grooved discs , about £145 a pair , mintex M1144 pads are about £90 a set and Ferodo DS2500 are about £120 a set , add £10 for delivery and they are much cheaper than what youve been quoted with a much better pad

Mo you obviously dont understand the workings of brakes then , its all down to leaverage with bigger brakes , try undoing a wheel nut with a small ratchet , then change to a long power bar , its a lot easier because of the addition leaverage , same with bigger brakes , if you try a car with this 335mm kit fitted it will certainly change your mind as they are legues better than the standard size brakes.

There is no other kit availble using the standard calipers with bigger discs , you could not use a smaller disc than 335mm as you wouldn't have enough room to fit a bracket in if the caliper only came out a small amount

TGD972's and DP31200C = £276.05 (using the promo code at the top of this page.)

I would always recommend using the same brake pad compound front and rear where possible, that goes for EBC, Mintex, Pagid, etc, etc.

I went for TSL group N discs and pads on the fronts of my STi... much better than regular ones, but probably not as good as a bigger brake kit.. probably cheaper tho

awd you obviously mis-interpreted my sarcasm.

For the benefit of everyone considering this upgrade perhaps you could provide some data to back up your claims?

what you didn't realise how big brakes make a difference for real ?? what data are you looking for , as I dont think anyone will have data collected on a kit they fit on there own cars

Not as such! You do not use the promo code at the top of this page.

£276.06 all in, vat, discount and delivery.

Its all been invoiced and sent now, so I will have to arrange a credit tomorrow for the difference.

Can you confirm your order reference number please? (on email)
