Default Help! New pads and discs

I need a new set of pads and discs for my 2001 WRX, i have read various posts on the forum and think i'm going to go for Ferodo DS2000 pads, however, what discs do i go for? I have standard sized wheels and only use my car for road use (occasionaly fast road )

Use DS2500 instead, standard discs will do or grooved to help dispurse pad gasses

Have stainless steel braided hoses fitted to improve pedal feel.

change brake fluid to dot5.1

This will make an improvement without going mad on cost

Andy

I also have a 2001 WRX- and had similar requirements to yourself. Am having braided hoses, DBA 9 groove discs and Pagid rs4.2.1 pads fitted on Saturday as a basic upgrade from standard. Pm me if you would like a progress report- (given a little time to bed in.)

Have you ever suffered fade at all, or feel that the brakes are woefully inadequate? If not then I'd say stick with standard copy's such as lucas replacment parts.
I had ebc discs and red-stuff pads. From the word go. They were bl*ody noisey and cr*p from cold. The discs warped in less than 5K and juddered like a b!tch. And when I went to replace them I noticed that the pads were virtually knackered aswell.
Replaced the lot with lucas copys just to get me out the cart and didn't really expect that much.
Have just go passed the 150mile 'run-in' period and have been really impressed with the feel and consistancy. They are excellent from cold, quiet, have not faded after 10 consecutive, 90-30mph hard stops and actually feel stronger than the ebc c%ck.

For track then i'd obviously agree that uprated pads are a must, but, for road use, you can't go wrong with this setup. ( £100 for front discs and pads delivered from Graham Goode! )

http://www.sapmotorparts.com/ Good place for pads.

You won't go wrong with the DS2000's

Echo what's been said about braided lines and DOT5.1 fluid.
