Default has anyone got an MRT brake support bracket on their classic?

if so how much did you have to wind the bolt out until it touched the end of the brake cylinder?

i've had mine on for a while now and didn't think anything was odd untill i saw a pic the other day and it was only wound out about 1/2", mine as shown in the pic is about 1 1/4"

can't see how it can be installed any different, but has anyone got any pics of theirs?

ta

will the goldy coloured piece go on the inside of the red bracket ?? that would push it closer to the m/c ...

afraid not mate, it's bolted to the suspension turret (behind the alarm siren in the pic).

only option looks like re-bending the 'kink' in the gold bar, though not sure what that'll do to the metal integrity.

will probably just leave it well alone

If you 're-bend' the kink, you'll firstly probably bu66er the thread in the bar, and secondly it'll make the bolt off centre on the master cylinder.....

Leave it be mate....

Cool

Does that make Ron and I wierd too!

I think all these parts are made to a wide tolerance by many a back yard shop for sale so dimensions vary hugely.(hence the long adjustable bolt)

I'm making my own soon for a bit of fun...
Now that is wierd!
Graham.

I got 2 different length bolts with mine! and used the longer of the 2.

I also found it a bitch to fit as none of the mounting holes lined up with the ones on the turret, but after a play with a drill all sorted.

Bolts to holes that are already there... and already have bolts welded to them... making it actually quite easy.... mine was (as you can see) simply two chunks of steel i had lying around......

Theres someone selling theses things on ebay for about £20 or so. Do they make a noticeable difference to pedal feel? Even with a 335 conversion and new-ish pads my pedal feels a little spongy.

hoskib,
I checked my MRT supplied bracket and it's the same as yours. About 1" from bracket to bolt head.

Been on there a couple of years without problems

IIRC, it's only against "the law" if it's something you're selling. I can't find them either on eBay.

I know; the SN policy for eBay links only affects stuff you're selling. Nowt wrong with posting a link AFAIK.

Red face

It is there, just looked at it:

Eb@y .co.uk
Automotive
Subaru Brakes
# 8017619540

It is Paypal only and that makes me nervey, so please take care! I take no responsibility for the item!!
The seller is in Hong Kong but has big Pos feed back.
Seeing as I don't do Pay Pal I didn't look too hard.

Graham
