Question Brake Pads on a 2004 WRX

I have a 2004 WRX (standard) which has only done 12000 miles and the front pads have worn out. Rather than fit new standard pads I thought I would fit some better quality pads. Does anyone have any recommendations, I have been on the EBC direct web site and the pads are around the £100 mark. Is this expensive and which ones are the best, I have used black and green before but they seem to be recommending redstuff ones.

Barrie.

EBC recommend the Red Ceramics for Scooby's due to the cars weight and the speeds it can achieve, the Greens aren't up to it. I on the other hand don't recommend EBC at all I had a set of Reds and wore them out in just 6 months and 6k road miles The OE pads which were in and half worn when I got the car managed to do 8k and a trackday, so I would presume they would have done approx 16k. I am now using Ferodo DS2000, which can be had for £90+vat fitted from Scoobyclinic, or DIY from AS Performance. These are a much better pad, and have so far done 2 trackdays and 8k miles. You could consider the DS2500, but these are more of a track pad and can be scary when cold. Also worth a look are Mintex 1144 (or 1155 for track) but they can very be dusty, and Pagid 4.2.1 (expensive).

I can also recommend fitting stainless braided brake lines and upgrading the fluid to DOT5.1. A relatively cheap upgrade, but it will improve pedal feel and prevent fade which can be a pain on OE Scooby 4 pots.
