Question Upgrading breaks on a classic Scoob!

Hi as we all know the breaks on a classic scoob are pants! Would like to upgrade mine but dont have ££££'s to spend can I fit the 4 pots from a l8r Bugeye on a 1997 with 17" rims? As they often crop up on ebay IE http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

&
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-IMPREZA...QQcmdZViewItem

I am guessing the Brembo's will only fit under a set of 18's?

Also any idea what a fir price is on a second hand set?

Thanx 4 your time people.

Chris...

The 4 pots should go straight on. I think the Brembos more depend on clearance than if theyre 18s or not.

Im sure someone will be along shortly to correct or confirm this!

LOL thanx marc I think the brembo's on ebay will end up to rich for me anyway! I belive the calipers on mine are only single pot so will these be a noticed improvement?

Call me thick if you like but I cant see an obvious second pot are they both on the inside of the caliper, as their is no round castings on the outside?

U obviously know what you are talking about and thats a lot more than me! They must be very shallow as their is no obvious round castings on the wheel side of the caliper? LOL Sorry for sounding like an ammature!!

the two pot calipers have both 'pots' on the inner side of the caliper, the 'SUBARU' 4 pots from any year car will fit all classics,

As stated, the brembo's will fit, but you have to use a wheel that fit's the STI's in order to ensure they clear the calipers......

Thanx m8 didn,t think I could see any on the outside? Will I notice a difference with the SUBARU 4 pots or do I really need to go for aftermarket calipers and a wheel change? (I have the 17" Subaru wheels)

i think it depends on your budget mate. there's a thread going on in general about ap vs brembos and it seems (obviously) the more you spend, the better the brakes.

personally i'd go for the scooby 4 pots with some decent pads, the improvement over your 2 pots will be massive. i've just fitted some pagid pads to my 4 pots and they are superb

i guess you've got the 17's as fitted to bug/blob eye? if so, the wrx uses the same 4 pot so fitment should be no problem.

Chris,
the first step would be the SUBARU 4 pots, that'll see a big improvement if you put braided hoses and decent fluid at the same time, then, when you've got used to them, and they become inadequate..... why not fit the Godspeed 335 kit which uses the same calipers but spaced out to fit the bigger disc.. thats what i've got, and they cope easily with the odd trackday and very spirited road driving.....

Just in case you've not sussed it out, when fitting the 4 pot calipers, you'll also need the 294mm discs, and new pads.....
