What make tyres do you classic owners run on your cars, how do they perform, how long do a set last and how much did you pay?

On the classic I used to own, I originally had Toyo Proxies T1-Rs. Good grip in the dry and wet, but wore down quickly. These were on 16" rims. Had to be careful in the wet when they got down to near minimal tread, believe me.

The when I upgraded to 17" rims Yokohama 565s. Not bad but tram lined badly. Quite hard wearing.

Now running bugeye WRX wheels, had the original Goodyear eagle f1's on it, great in dry, damn scary in the wet.....might have had something to do with they only had about 1k miles of tread left! Now got T1-R Toyos on, £352 fitted (215/40/17) bloody brilliant in dry and wet!

How long will 6mm of tread last on the average tyre.

Basically i have had quotes as i need 4 new tyres (no idea how many mm a new tyre comes with??) costing around £275 or i was toying with getting some 2nd hand 17" wheels with tyres for around the £400 mark...

6mm of tread should last ages, new tyres usually have about 7-8mm approx, so 6mm is virtually new anyway, although how long they last all depends upon your driving style
