Best WET road tyres
Seeing this country is so bloody wet all the time and dry performance of most tyres is much of a muchness
Any opinions of whats the best WET road tyre out there in a 215/40/17 for a classic shaped impreza?
Heard Toyo Proxes aren't fab (is this T1-s or t1-R though??? )
And now we have threads on Goodyear F1 DSD3's splitting on the sidewall
As a baseline, Avon ZZ1s are awful - have the ZZ3s improved?
Michelin Pilots are expensive - but are they worth it?
BF Goodrich G-force Profiler (are these michelins? )??
Firestone Firehawk SZ80?
What about Dunlop SP9000?
Yokahama A539??
And Bridgestone RE050?? - which seem to be a good price at the moment, so what are they like?
Searching for threads just left me with abiguous non-specific posts which just confused me even more
I'd preferably like to hear from people who think their tyres are crap - (or their last pair)
PP

Used to have the Eagle F1s.
Now have the T1-Rs.
Will be going back to the Eagles next 'cos they're better.
Too ambiguous for you?

Cheers, keep them comming.
The Goodys were high high on my short list. But after seeing this:- http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=433065 and this: http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=439429
I'm not so sure now
Feel free to post any other brand I haven't listed - it would be great if they are compared to another brand that you've tried on the same car too, to give a better general idea.

F1's would be my choice right now, I've had five sets on two cars with no issues at all both cars running relatively high power and torque. Forget RE070's they are lethal in the wet especially on an uprated car. Superb dry grip with nice stiff side walls though. Don't go near UniRoyal, Pilot Sports are v good, have them on my "other car"

I've run most of the tyres you list, and have just fitted my third set of F1s. Was temped to go for Pilot Sports but the new PS2 is not available in 215/40x17, I think. Don't hesitate with F1s, there have been hundreds of favourable posts here about them, especially for wet performance.

Had Dunlop SP9000 on a Quattro, very fine ride, very quiet and nice overall road feel but not exceptional in the wet.
Currently using Maragoni Zeta Linea with very good results all round.

I have just been looking to replace my tyres, just cannot make my mind up. The std fit RE040's are great in the dry, but understeer quite a lot in the wet. At the moment I am going to probably go for the RE050 or the F1 or maybe the ZZ3???

Thanks, seem to have a general idea of whats what forming now
(for the record, I bought my car with Avon ZZ1s already fitted - not impressed at all in the wet, compared to my last Impreza which had the RE040 Bridgestones. At last I've managed to wear them out so I can get some decent rubber fitted!).

My 2ps worth.
Tried lots of Winter Tyres and the best I've experienced (completely subjective of course) were Vredestein Sportrac 2s. Key into the road like a lot of quality Tyres do in the dry. The dry weather performance, although not as good as some summer specific rubber, was still very good.
