Default Tarox 6-pot brakes and squealing

Hi,

Anyone know of soemwhere near or in SE London that can deal with the problem I've got with my Tarox Brakes. I have a MY97.

The front drivers side wheel is squealing a lot after I release the pedal so I took them to my nearest mechanic.

It seems the Brake pads are at an angle, 5-6mm at the front 3-4mm at the back the Disc is down to 23mm from 24mm, I don't know if this is important and how this causes a squeal I don't know.

If anyone could suggest somewhere or give me some further information, I'd be grateful.

The brake pads do wear at an angle on this kind of set-up and 1mm wear on this sort of disk is probably still within tolerance. (i would have thought your allowed at least 1.5mm wear but I dont know tolerance for these discs.) However your discs may need skimmed to even out the worn surface.
Before you do that though replace the pads and see how you get on. It is possible you need to put an anti-squeel shim behind the pads or change to a different pad material. Some people put coppa-slip (copper anti slip paste from Halfords etc) behind the pads instead and say it works well to stop squealing.

Thanks for the reply, next question with tarox 6 pot brakes do you need to use tarox pads or can i use others?

If it is proprietory, how can I tell which pads will fit?

Thanks.

The best answer to this one is to take a pad to your local motor factor. They have a book with the pad size/shapes and they be able to match it up.
Worked for me.
