Default Fitting Rear Disks

Evening

This evening me and a mate tried unsucessfully to change the rear disks on my MY98 UK Turbo. We got the caliper off easily enough but could not get the disk to come off. The handbrake was off and i couldn't see anything obvious to do with the handbrake that was holding the disc on.

Cheers

Smile Errr?

HI,

I emailed Ian and he very kindly sent me the information sheet. I can see the rubber plug on the back of the cover, but couldn't see any cog to turn to releast the disk.

Can anyone give me an idiots guide to removing the rear disk.

Cheers

Ash

you wont see the cog . you need to put a screw driver in and poke around till you hit the right spot , bit like being with your very first girlfriend

take out the plug and use a small torch you can easily see the 'wheel' inside, turn in the opposite direction to the arrow on the backing plate to loosen off.............

Just stick a bolt into each of the 2 small holes that are opposite each other on the disc and wind them both in progressivley. If the handbrake is off the disc should come off without turning the cog adjuster from the back.
Much easier.

yes but if the handbarke shoes are tight on because there a lip inside the drum it will rip the shoes off and damage them , if its tight you have to slacken them off

I doubt it. It's unlikely there will be much, if any lip inside. The disc brake pads do the braking, the handbrake (shoes) is only pulled on whilst stationary.
Just make sure the handbrake is off, if that hasn't already been mentioned.

Just done this myself. Anyone know how you re-adjust the handbrake cog?

If its too loose theres no handbrake but my main concern is if its too tight will the shoes rub and cause smoking etc.
