Are these any good or are they not.
It's very difficult to read between the lines on S'net.

I've heard of :
Brake judder, due to pad deposits.
Noise and vibration due to the bolts on the bells not being torqued correctly. Noise and vibration due to the pads moving on the pins (solved by aralditing the holes in the pad and drilling a smaller hole).
Cracked disks.

I need to upgrade my MY00 brakes and was thinking of the 330mm conversion using the existing 4-pots.

Your thoughts on these or altenatives would be appreciated.......

I've got the Godspeed grooved & vented discs on my MY00, standard 294mm size. Apart from a bit of rusting I've had no trouble or complaints about them at all.

Will be after a set for the rear shortly also.

I have the Brembo 308mm grooved only kit with separate alloy bells, they dont suffer from warping or rusting. He does larger versions as well, for those with 17" or 18" rims.

I have had mine on my car a year now and have had no problems like you mention.

I have the 335mm kit with Brembo Red Callies fitted and cant fault them at all.

Really pleased with the set up with the Original "fast road" pads but will be upgrading to ds2500'S or more likely Pagid RS's next for even more bite!

Was like chalk and cheese compared to the 2 pots on b4 hand.

i got the 308mm grooved, with 4pot brembos, and the ds2000 pads. Great stuff, no problems at all, and Ian is a cracking bloke to boot.

Well, thats a pad issue, not the brakes themselves...

Thats down to them not being fitted correctly, not the brakes themselves.

Thats an easy one to sort anyway, and i've never had a problem with it!

And that could be because people have got drilled discs when they would be better suited to just grovved, this could happen with anyones brakes!!



So, all in all, there aren't any issues that i can see here, that are related purely to the godspeed set-up..??

I bought the 308 mm Red Brembo kit of Ian 3 months ago. Highly recommended!
The supplied DS2000 pads are not suitable for track day usage, but DS2500 solves this problem.

I've had the Godspeed 308 kit for just over 2 years now. Just grooved. Had some squealing at first, but that died away and they have been great.
Note, I haven't left any room between the lines .....

He made me a std set for my RA, they were vented and grooved and are superb, also had a set of front Kevlar pads for about £150 all in bargain or what.

Ive got the 335 kit and they are awsome!!

I was the one who araldited the holes up, but it wasnt a major problem, just me being picky. Bloody good at stopping from 120!! no fade at all.

Here Here, for me to. 335 kit fitted by Ron and no problem's and the best bit is they bloody well work!! when my oe one's faded going into r/bout and it got a bit scary i up graded to these , no more prob's..

If you already have the subaru 4 pots, use them. They are good enough for the size of disc.

Had the 335 kit fitted by Ian about 2 months ago and no problems, used them for Japfest and they were great with no fade , highly recommended & Ian is one of the nicest blokes you could meet

Got the 325mm grooved only, Ali bells and Brembo 4 pots & braided hoses all around.......... ALL fitted by Ian about 2 years ago (ish)

ALL I can say is WOW !!

Leggies are slightly heavier and the original brakes are slighty undernurished...


Nice bloke as well....... even got a cup of tea outta him.. LOL

Would defo go back for for..............

Got the 335's fitted to my Classic and WHAT a difference to the standard set-up, it gives you a lot more confidence and at the price he does them at...excellent. If you want some pic's let me know as I took some whilst he was fitting them.

I had the 308 kit and the performance was excellent. The Mintex 1144s squealed like a b*stard no matter what I did. Ian gave me another pair to try FOC but it still happened. great for track, but I solved it for road use by buying some Halfords own (made by Ferrodo) pads for £12

put the standard mintex pads from halfords in my 335 setup, not bad for general road driving , but not after a 135mph slow down into woodcote at goodwood, geoff the instructor said "brakes have gone a bit soft", saw a set of photos after, lovely clouds of smoke pouring from the fronts very dramtic looking, they cooled down ok and worked when i went out 1/2 hour later but limited myself too 120 max, just skimmed my 1144 pads down flat for the next goodwood outing in july, so hopefully they be better!!

upgraded to 335 brembo set up no probs apart from a little mucking around to make the kit fit
great brakes good prices but can be difficult to communicate with sometimes

I don't know how many brake options Godspeed does, but it's dozens for sure.

From what I've read over several years on here, his own kit which takes the OEM 4-pot caliper with spacers, his own-sourced (German?) big discs with alloys bells and quality pads, are very good by any measure, and great value. Sure, people might have fitting problems (it's not a 5-minute bolt-on job) but if you get Ian to do it, you'll be fine. Get grooved and they are guaranteed not to fail even on a track day.

On the other hand, if you simply go for his Group N standard replacement discs they are unlikely to be any better than OEM, by definition, and we all know what they can be like when pushed.

If you're still not happy, Ian will fit you a set of APs, for a price. As far as I can tell, the only downside with Godspeed is that Ian's is a small company and he's usually busy making stuff, so can be hard to pin down. Prolly worth the effort, though

I have APs, but if I didn't, it would be Godspeeds.

I bought a 2nd hand 335 kit from a fellow SNetter. Ian was more than happy to fit them for me even though I'd bought 2nd hand.

He has been incredibly helpful as I'm having a few problems getting them to work properly (this has nothing to do with the kit BTW) and even came in on Saturday to do the job for me. I've encountered problems before with companies not being interested with 2nd hand stuff and its usually a case of "You didn't buy it from us so its not our problem" Ian never hesitated to give advice and help me out.

Its not exactly round the corner for me being a 140 ish mile round trip but IMHO its more than worth it.

And yes, the AP calipers are blinking stunning work of art!!!

I had them 335 kit fitted again by Ron, rear kit as well, far superior to the Chocolate Swiss Cheese disc's fitted on my Mr 300 (EVO) which are utter ****e in comparison, for the money you can't go wrong.
