Wonder if some of you track guys could put me in the right direction with regards to which make of tyre to buy. They need to be 225x40x18, I will use these only for track use but also need to be road legal ( Nurburgring ) dry use tyres are a must.

thanks for any replies

I've had a set of Dunlop SP Super Sport Race tyres on for the past couple of track events. They have very good grip in the dry, and aren't too bad in wet conditions either, though they don't really like deep standing water. Good feedback through the wheel also, and not as twitchy as some with very still sidewalls (RE-070s for example).

They are available in the correct size (http://www.sascosports.com/products/...sportrace.html), but you would probably need to order them from a motorsport tyre dealer.

Not sure on prices for 18 inch wheels.

You can also get the Toyo R-888 in 225/40x18 size - road legal and an excellent track tyre.
