Ideally try to drive without any hard or prolonged braking for around 150-200 miles. Same as for new tyres etc... slightly longer for new disc's ~300miles.

Hope this helps,

Jason

try this

for bedding in, do 5 or 6 low pressure stops from 30-15 to align the pads and build a little heat..........then do 3-4 high speed stops with medium to heavy pressure (don't lock the wheels or comne to a standstill!!) ideally 70+ down to around 25-30 in quick succession / accelerate, brake, accelerate, brake, etc............
now for the most important part drive for around 10-15 mins at a reasonable cruise to allow everything to cool back to normal, ideally don't use the brakes during this time although i appreciate this can be difficult, but probably needs a little forward planning..............

that looks familiar Gary.......................LOL.................... .

as Gary has kindly posted the short sharp shock works very well for ds2500, ds3000 and most 'competition' type pads...............BUT do not attempt this if you have fitted new discs or std type pads...........

Just pulling this up again as I'd like t know what the correct method is for new 'competition' type pads and new disc's..?

BTW have searched and have only found the method recommended for new pads, not new pads and discs..!

depends on the manufacturer, but generally with new discs (and or new pads at the same time) you would normally use reasonably for 100mile or so - don't ***** foot as they need to do some work just no ABS inducing or excessive stops...............
then for a further 50mile or so gradually increase the length severity of stops until your using normally
