Default Wheel Bearings!!

Got a lovely droning noise coming from the rear of the car. Pretty confident it is the wheel bearings. What is the rough cost of replacement at a garage and what is entailed if i did it myself?

would guess that you are looking at around £ 300 for wheel bearings seals and speedi sleves its not imposible to do it yourself depends how mechanical minded you are and if you have a good tool kit one problem is getting the long lower control link bolt out the hub carrier can be seized in also its best to have a press to remove and replace bearings

I had one wheel done on my bugeye under warranty - dealer said it would have cost about £180 inc. parts/labour. My son had to pay £200 for one on his Peugeot.

If you have access to a hi lift jack and a long breakers bar you can get the hub off yourself and take it to a local garage to do the press work. However the bearing and seals kit from subaru is about 100 quid a corner!
If you go to a motor factors to get the kit it probably won't come with the drive shaft lock nut either which you will need to get from subaru.

Dan.
