A good DOT 4.1 is all you will ever need for road & occasional track use

I noticed that the cap on my master cylinder says to only use DOT 3 is that correct ? (2003 WRX)

I though DOT3 was only for drum brakes ? surely subaru dealers dont use DOT 3 ?

The DOT rating refers to the amount of moisture the fluid absorbs over time (nothing to do with heat).

However, DOT 3 and 4 generally have higher heat ratings, but need to be changed regularly (at least once a year). It's racing fluid, and that gets changed every week!

I use AP Lockheed Ultra which is a top quality 5.1 fluid but also with a high heat rating. Details of AP Racing suppliers from their website. Alyn at AS Performance can supply, I think, and his service is very good.

Richard.
