Lightbulb Wickedwheels....Wheel Refurb

Okay...so i am thinking of getting my wheels refurb'd...

Had a Chat with

http://www.wickedwheels.co.uk/Services_Tyres_Wheels.htm

Mobile service, who will come out to you and carry all tools to do the job..How convinient

4 hour turn around...

Charging £65+vat per wheel...though i thought was convinient as it is a same day service..hence i will not be without a car for days...

Give you 1 years warranty...any paint chips etc, the whole wheel will be redone free of charge...

Okay...so has anyone used them before..seems they push the tyre back and not take it off...

Any advice welcome...

That's expensive mate. Most wheel refurb specialists do it for up to £45 per corner inclusive of vat.

For the price you've been quoted you could get hold of a set of std wheels with tyres, stick them on while yours are being refurbed, then use them as spares or sell them on after. eg refurb all four wheels @ £45 each = £180. Buy used set of std 16"s, with rubber, approx £130. This vs your price of £65+VAT x 4 =£305.50.

Many tyre shops act as agents for the bigger wheel refurb companies such as Spit and Polish (Tunbridge) or Pristine in Milton Keynes. You just drop them off at you local tyre shop and pick them up when they're done.

Or, depending on which part of town you're in, get over to Littleknocks in Uxbridge. They might be able to do it for you while you nip out to the shops for a few hours.

Have called up afew place's and they all are charging £60 and above, all +VAT...this includes the tyres comming off and back on... This is for 18" wheels...Turn around of between 3-5 working days...

This sounds like a convinient deal, where its a mobile service, and is a same day service...

little Knocks...(had an issue with quoted prices and time scales for a bumper spray with them not so long ago!)

Samuk
My wheels are going into labtab.co.uk this Saturday, plus having new yoko's fitted when finished.

Can only speak as I find, so far the communication from Neil Murphy @ lap-tab has been excellent, even offering a more local to home drop off point for me.

My Yoko's are purchased from Bannings in Brum, who will also strip the wheels down, just of Spag junction A-38, they are also in connection with Lap-Tab. recently purchased two 205x40x17 from them for my Focus, excellent service.

Update you guy's when in receipt of re-built coated Scooby wheels.

Cheers

As promised, wheel update.

Collected my wheels this morning from Lap-Tab in Birmingham, 17" Fox Racing five spokes, re-coated in Matt Black + new tyres.

Now fitted & looking the dogs Billicks, Matt Black wheels on a white motor looks awsome.

Excellent 10/10 service from this company

Default Price Comparison

Wicked Wheels:
Best deal offered to me is £260 for 4 wheels, best cash deal they could offer me.

Rochford Tyres:
£235 all inclusive of VAT for 4 wheels + Tyres off and on with a silver finish. For any other colour £270.

Lab-tab
Had a chat with them, just a little bit too far for me, as they need to see the wheels before they can quote me, just too expensive if tyres are not taken off before hand.

Otherwise charging £188 for wheels only, + £80 if tyres need to come off and go back on!
Total charge £268 + Travel Expense x3

Conclusion:
Lab-tab: ends up too expensive as they are too far for me, and would require 3 trips.

Wicked Wheels: Good for a mobile same day service, though not convinced they will do a good job.

Rochford Tyres: Been there once before and was happy with the end product.

It's your choice, my quote from Lap-Tab was £35 + vat per wheel, so quite pleased with that.

Looked all over the place for a good deal, and feel I've found a good set up in Birmingham.
Plan to have other work done, powder coating etc to underbody bracketry & the like, just to get the hidden bits & pieces looking mint.

Are your wheels untidy then ?
