These are very good tires for the price. They are growing status over here very quickly in the performance community - auto-x etc.
I had a set last year on my 16s that cam ewith the car - very good tread wear and pretty grippy. My new 17s come with them too!

If you are talking about the Kumho Escta V70A soft compound tyres then you are so right.
I hill climb/sprint (your Auto-X) my Sti v3 on them for 3 years now, fantastic!
There seems little difference between the 17's on medium and the 16's on soft though (?)

I think they have different patterns for the UK/Euro market. My 16s were the escta 712s and the 17s are the Escta MX.
The MX is the one that gets high praise over here and although not quite as grippy as the new age sti tires they wear much slower and are much cheaper (under $200 cdn a tire in a 17)

The V70's here are straight form the maker, and are classed as a 'moulded slick', bit like Hoosier Auto Crosser, shallow rain grooves, lots of contact are and no block suffle!

I got a set of Escta, very cheap. £230 for four. Inc. fitting and valves. 215 x 40 x 17. I was asked to try them out. I had great expectations and first impressions in the dry were OK.
Come the rain I was very surprised at the lack of grip. I stuck with them for less than a month in the hope they would improve but then took them off. The difference going back onto F1s restored my faith in the vehicles wet weather ability.(and mine!!!)
