The wheel cleaning products are generally poor at removing tar. dab on some Autoglym intensive tar remover for sticky tar spots, and the wheel cleaners will cope with the rest.

I was told by an Alloy Wheel supplier that once the wheels are clean, only use soap and water, as the detergents OR acids in the cleaners, can cause the paint to lift n flake

you really want to avoid any acid-based cleaners as they can attack the lacquer. Any nicks and it'll start eating into the finish.
Wonder wheels is good, but it ruined by alloys after a few years use.

go to seriousperformance.co or .co.uk, can't remember which.
alex Creasy who runs the company is a current scoobynetter who had an sti and now runs a skyline.
Everyone commented on how spotless his car always was so he started a company on the side.
Think he gives scoobynetters special prices adn I know he stocks maguires and all the microfibre cloths.
I just bought a bulk package off him for spring when the weather improves.

I've been using it for a couple of years, together with a specialised wheel cleaning brush, also an AutoGlym jobbie. Both are available from Halfrauds. No complaints yet.
