Question Sourcing New Wheels with New Tyres?

I understand that some people have got new wheels not wanted on their new Imprezas. I need new tyres which will cost me about £450. I undertsand that wheels off new Imprezas with tyres can be had for not much more. But :
1. Will the wheels off , say a new STi, fit my May2000 UK classic?
2. Where is the best source for new wheels?
Thanks
Simon

New age STI wheels and tyres will rub on the rear shocks, but the WRX wheels will fit fine.

The tyre size on the WRX isn't perfect for a classic (your speedo will under read very slightly) but many people live with it
WRX wheels come with 215/45 17 tyres
Classics use 215/40 17 or 205/45 17

Question

A few do, most don't.

Where are you paying £450 for tyres and what type? Did someone see you coming, or have you posted that for the wife to read, to justify spending on new wheels?

My Toyo T1R's were £340 fitted and balanced, and I've seen 'em for better on here since.

Don't rub on my version2 STi wagon.

Error reading with 45 profile tyres is 2%. Small price to pay imo for better ride comfort and cosmetic looks.
As it happens i have a Originb2 in my car which is said to be pretty accurate. The differance between the speedo and this is between 2 and 4 mph depending on how fast you are going.
Same error on my Pug as it happens.
