Unhappy Red stuff brake pads dont fit !!

Tried to fit some EBC red stuff pads to my wrx wagon today ........... and for all the effort in the world I could'nt get them to fit.
They are exactly the same shape as the ones i pulled out, and they fit back in the caliper absolutely fine. I just couldn't get the pads far enough apart to get them over the disc ........... and the caliper pistons were as far back as they could go !
It seems that there is too much meat on the pads........ is this possible??!!

Did you use the original backing plates as the EBCs have already new ones from the factory and won't fit if you tried it?

I did as a matter fact. Only because the ones i pulled out looked the same as the EBCs (i.e. had a plate on them plus the removable backing plate).

Dont reckon it will buy me enough room to get them in though, will try.

At last, fitted them tonight after much effort once again.
I was working on the offside front and couldn't figure it out at all. Switched sides and once I got the caliper off realised that the side I had been working on had seized. The slider unit (not sure what its called) had stuck solid.
So ......... out came Mr Lump Hammer !! Not the best of ideas I know but this thing was stuck proper.
Any how once free and moving I could get the pads in no probs.

Thanks guys for your help. Much appreciated.

One happy scooby_pimp
