Fitting STi 7/8 Brembos to a Classic
I have a set of 330mm Brembos with back plates from an STi8 to replace the 297mm & 4 pots on my STi3. I've offered the disc & caliper to an old hub and it all matches nicely. Searched for threads on the subject and it seems a straightforward mod.
None of the threads I've read mention the back plates. Neither set-up's back plates extend to the full diameter of the disc so, is it necessary to fit the new back plates? Presumably this will necessitate pressing the wheel stud flange from the hub and then re-fitting with new bearings. A costly extra.
Or, cut enough from the back plates where they prevent removal/fitting around the wheel flange.
Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Gerry
